THE FILLER DISSOLVING: HOW DO THEY WORK?
A soluble protein enzyme is used in the Filler Dissolving treatment procedure to break down the hyaluronic acid found in dermal filler. The solution works by breaking up the bonds that hold the HA molecules together and encouraging the body to reabsorb those molecules naturally. This happens by increasing tissue permeability, breaking the molecular bonds that hold hyaluronic acid together, and promoting the natural cellular processes that allow it to diffuse.
The filler dissolving treatment is used in emergency situations where dermal filler has been inadvertently injected into an artery, resulting in blood supply occlusion. It is injected near the dermal filler that needs to be dissolved. The procedure is quick and starts to work immediately on the dermal fillers.
In case of an allergic reaction, we will recommend a skin patch test prior to the procedure. The risk, however, is extremely rare. This will be discussed during your consultation prior to treatment and should be included in your informed consent prior to any dermal filler treatment.
Once the filler is completely dissolved and settled, you can re-inject the filler into the area again correctly and subtly after 9-14 days.

To reduce discomfort from the injection, your nurse will cleanse your skin and, if desired, apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment region.
Your nurse will inject lidocaine into the treatment region after the anesthesia has been activated and wiped off. Within 48 hours, you will see a reduction due to the fillers dispersing.

The most visible, immediate, and the common side effect is minor bleeding after the needle is inserted into the skin.
Bruising, tenderness, redness, and swelling around the injection site are also some other risks. These symptoms may take 2-7 days to completely disappear, particularly around the lips where there is little flesh and the skin is tender.
Rarely, allergic reactions may occur following a filler dissolving treatment. In very rare cases, these can be severe or even fatal if not treated promptly and adequately.
If you have difficulty breathing, you are experiencing an anaphylactic reaction and should seek medical attention immediately.
